Space Stations

From February 1983 came news of the "restaurant of the future". Space Stations was to include "Space Cadet" servers in space-themed outfits, robots serving drinks, and a "Refuse Robot" trash can that said "thank you" when used. Alas, the concept never came to be and Charlotte was left wondering what dining in the future would really be like...

  1. It reminds me of Pizza Planet in Toy Story. It would have been cool in a dorky kinda way. I had friends in high school who would have died to work there.

    Thanks!

  2. I don't think I know anyone that would have wanted to volunteer to be a "Space Cadet". The abuse would have been non-stop.

  3. It think this did exist for a short bit on Central Avenue - near the Harris Teeter. I lived in the area in 1983-85 and remember a geodesic dome restaurant that matches the description. Terrible hamburgers, really dark inside.

    1. I'm not sure about the location as I would have been 9. But I went to a birthday party there. I definitely remember the robot chef and the garbage robot that spoke. Though all of these years I thought I had remembered the restaurant was called "Space Station Earth". It is a fussy memory.
