An interesting photo essay of various Charlotte eateries from 1983. Only one currently exists today. Back in the early '80's, though, these were all popular restaurants. Do you remember any of these?

A look at Charlotte, NC restaurants from the past to the present
Haven't lived in Charlotte in a while but I'm thinking it's Jimmy's or Providence Rd Sundries that is still there
ReplyDeleteProvidence Road Sundries is still there and going strong.
ReplyDeleteWhere was that Darryl's located?
It's always a joy to open my email and see that another post has been added to Charlotte Eats!
ReplyDeleteJimmy's Restaurant is now located in Mint Hill http://www.jimmiesrestaurant.com/ordereze/Content/3/Summary.aspx
Wasn't there another Darryl's located on Hwy 51 in Pineville?
Darryl's was so good - and had the coolest decor! There was one on 51 - I think it's an Outback now.
ReplyDeleteDarryl's was on Albemarle Rd. and it sat next door to Sunrise. I went to Darryl's for prom dinner. It closed but the vacant building remained for a bit but was torn down about 10 years ago. I think there is an ABC store there now.
ReplyDeleteI remember that Darryl's close to Eastland Mall, I remember knife and fork, it was a hangout in the early nineties for young adults late at night. Remember Putt Putt on Albemarle between Independence and Sharon Amity? Last I knew there is still a Knife and Fork in Monroe.
